Nicknamed the pearl of the Mediterranean, the nation of Montenegro boasts a mild climate with beautiful scenery including beaches, lakes, mountains, and rivers. The country’s rich culture and heritage attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. Visitors can see ancient churches, national parks, go sailing or even rafting. Though the country is small in size, it offers larger than life opportunities.
Montenegro has also become an attractive option for foreign investors who are seeking to obtain a second international residence or second citizenship. The country’s longstanding investment-based immigration program offers a solid option for interested investors and their families.
Citizenship by Investment in Montenegro
Montenegro requires the foreign investor to make an investment of at least 500,000 Euros before the applicant can apply for citizenship. Once the investment has been made, it must be reviewed by an independent consultancy agency and the investor must obtain a recommendation from the country’s Ministry of Finance.
After the agency certifies that the investment was correctly made and the Ministry of Finance issues the recommendation, the investor may submit the citizenship application to the Montenegro immigration authorities. The application must contain the agency certification, Ministry recommendation, proof that the investor has a clean criminal record, and proof that the investor is proficient in the Montenegro language.
If the application is approved, the investor may obtain Montenegro passports for the investor and family.
Interested investors are encouraged to contact knowledgeable business and immigration attorneys for further information on this program and to discuss whether the Montenegro economic citizenship program is right for them.
